Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), Zoe Lofgren (CA-19), Norma Torres (CA-35), Grace Meng (NY-6), Lou Correa (CA-34), and Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-4) introduced the “Renewing Immigration Provisions of the Immigration Act of 1929,” which would update Section 249 of the Immigration and Nationality Act known as registry.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) issued a statement following District Attorney Bragg’s request to the court to dismiss the case against Hamilton Heights resident, Jose Alba. Since the bodega tragedy, Rep. Espaillat has been actively engaged in addressing the situation with New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Deputy Mayor of Public Safety Philip Banks, and District Attorney Alvin Bragg and has urged for a full government approach to addressing the case and increased crime within New York’s 13th congressional district.

WASHINGTON, DCRepresentative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) announced the following grant opportunities through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Citizenship and Integration Grant Program to provide up to $20 million in grants for citizenship preparation programs in the district.

USCIS is now accepting applications for four funding opportunities under the expanded program. In line with Executive Order 14012 and the Interagency Strategy for Promoting Naturalization, USCIS is calling for new and innovative approaches and targeted outreach to remote, underserved, or isolated communities.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, members of the Latino Jewish Caucus issued the following statement to condemn The Mapping Project’s compilation of locations targeting Jewish places of worship, businesses, schools, and other public centers:

“We are deeply concerned over the targeting of the Jewish Community in Massachusetts by The Mapping Project and find it troubling that this implicit antisemitic attack directed towards our Jewish brothers and sisters has been allowed to happen,” stated the members.

NEW YORK, NY – Today, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) honored Dr. May Edward Chinn by submitting a Congressional Record insert acknowledging her life’s work and legacy. Dr. Chinn was the first Black woman to graduate from Bellevue Hospital Medical College in 1926, which is now known as New York University Grossman School of Medicine and the first Black woman to complete an internship at Harlem Hospital in 1928. Today and every day, we honor herstory and commend her determination to provide medical care to the disadvantaged and for her work in cancer detection:
