Immigration Case Inquiries

IMPORTANT: The Office of Congressman Adriano Espaillat does not provide legal services or legal assistance.

As an option, the office can provide a list of community-based organizations that provide legal immigration assistance who specialize in immigration law.

Our office is generally able to provide immigration casework assistance to constituents who have open immigration cases. Specifically, our office can submit inquiries to federal agencies to follow up on the following applications and cases:

  • Immigrant Visa Applications

  • Non-Immigrant Visa Applications

  • Asylum Cases

  • Employment Authorization

  • DACA and TPS Cases

  • Citizenship, naturalization and oath ceremony

  • Before submitting a congressional casework inquiry about pending applications, please check the status of your case and check the USCIS office processing times. If your case is outside of normal processing times, we can submit an inquiry on your behalf and ask about your case.

USCIS Inquiry Submission

In order for our office to submit an inquiry into your case to USCIS, our office will need proper documentation. We will not disclose any personal information to third party members nor accept inquiry requests who are not constituents from New York’s 13th Congressional District.

Our office should expect a response within 30 business days from the USCIS Congressional Liaison Office. While some inquiries will be fully resolved within the times outlined above, there might be instances where USCIS will not provide a response within the time frame.

Follow up on an Inquiry

Our office may follow up on your behalf if the case remains unresolved 90 days after the first initial inquiry response.

There is no guarantee a request for expedited service will be approved— even if the request meets one or more of the following criteria.
