NEW YORK, NY -- At Stand Against Violence East Harlem (SAVE), a community violence intervention program, U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, U.S. Representative Adriano Espaillat, Manhattan District Attorney-Elect Alvin Bragg and others advocated for at least $5 billion in funding for community-based violence intervention programs to be included in the Build Back Better Act. They said that communities across the country, like East Harlem, are experiencing a historic increase in gun violence, and to combat this epidemic, the federal government must invest in community violence intervention programs.
