STATEMENT FROM CONGRESSMAN ADRIANO ESPAILLAT AND CONGRESSMAN DAN GOLDMAN ON JUDICIARY COMMITTEE FIELD HEARING IN NEW YORK CITY
NEW YORK, NY – Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) and Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) issued the following statement on attending the House Judiciary Committee field hearing in New York City on Monday, April 17, 2023.
“The pro-crime Republican Party’s latest political stunt is to come to New York City and interfere in an ongoing criminal investigation. At the explicit direction of Donald Trump, they are coming to the safest big city in America with the sole aim of abusing their power to serve as a taxpayer-funded arm of Donald Trump’s legal defense team.
“While they talk about crime, they have refused to pass common sense gun control legislation that would stop the proliferation of guns to cities like New York City and to communities around the nation that continue to ravage families.
“At this very moment, Republicans are attempting to defund federal law enforcement agencies while endorsing a man for president who was impeached twice, is facing a 34-count felony indictment, and is the target of at least four other criminal and civil investigations in three states. While we are disappointed that Chairman Jordan has limited our time to address these issues, we look forward to attending this hearing and exposing the hypocrisy and corruption of Donald Trump’s MAGA extremists.”
