Representative Adriano Espaillat to Lead Tour Touting Federal Infrastructure Investments and District Projects
Espaillat Will be Joined by New York Governor Kathy Hochul, MTA, and Local Officials to Highlight Second Avenue Subway Following Enactment of Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act
NEW YORK, NY –Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) will lead a tour of the Second Avenue Subway today, Tuesday, November 23rd at 2:00 p.m. (EST) to further highlight the importance of the recently enacted bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and acknowledge its critical impact to transit projects throughout New York's 13th congressional district.
With the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which President Biden signed last week, $23 billion is available for new grant opportunities for transit expansion projects, including the Second Avenue Subway Phase 2 application to expand service to 125th St.
During the tour which will begin on the West side of Second Avenue between 112th & 113th Streets, Rep. Espaillat will be joined by New York Governor Kathy Hochul, MTA Acting Chair & CEO Janno Lieber and local and federal elected officials. The on the tour, which will begin on West side of Second Avenue between 112th & 113th Streets. Following the tour, participants will hold a press conference to discuss how the new federal funding will be used in the completion of the next phase of the Second Avenue Subway expansion.
The press conference will begin immediately following the tour. Members of the media will have the opportunity to gather photos and b-roll following remarks.
PLEASE NOTE: All attendees must wear a mask or face covering, regardless of vaccination status, along with appropriate footwear (work boots, hiking boots, etc.). Additional PPE including hard hat and vest will be provided before entering hatch down to tunnel.
