Rep. Adriano Espaillat Responds to Constituent Questions on Inwood Rezoning Plan

August 8, 2018

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Today, Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) responded to questions asked by constituents during the community forum he hosted earlier this month regarding the plan to rezone Inwood. A vote on the rezoning plan is expected today.

"As elected officials and public servants, we each have a role and a duty to hear the voices of the individuals we represent in office," saidRep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13). "I listened and responded to the questions posed by residents of New York's 13th congressional district on the impact of the Inwood rezoning plan. They each have a voice and their voices matter. I truly hope that members of the New York City Council will do the same and go back to the drawing board and create a plan that works best for Inwood residents and help families thrive."

Read Rep. Espaillat's responses in English and Spanish to previously unanswered questions posed during the August 1st forum, due to time restraints. Rep. Espaillat takes the proposal to rezone Inwood very seriously and has strongly voiced his objection to the revised plan as he believes it fails to put families and the Inwood community first. He urges members of the New York City Council and city leaders to implement a 7-year moratorium until the community, elected officials, and experts have an opportunity to further review the significant impact this plan would have on our community and present a new proposal that would truly reflect the community's needs and desires of Inwood residents.
