Media Advisory: Rep. Adriano Espaillat to Host Event Honoring Women in New York's Labor Movement in Recognition of Women's History Month
WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), joined by distinguished honorees, will celebrate Women's History month on Wednesday, March 20th at 6:00 p.m. at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building, Art Gallery, located at 163 West 125th Street, 2nd floor, New York, NY. During the event, Rep. Espaillat will recognize the contributions of several New York women from various union, trade and labor organizations and their contributions to the labor movement and impact on critical issues such as closing the wage gap, ensuring workplace diversity and equality.
"We have made progress, but much work remains in our efforts to fully recognize the historical and current role of women in the workforce and the contributions they have made to the labor movement," said Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13). "There is still much more work to be done to ensure the value of women's work is respected, the dignity of equal pay is upheld, respect for women in leadership roles is guaranteed, and high standards for labor rights for all workers is maintained. Women played a critical role in advancing labor rights while at the same time fighting for their own equal rights under the law, so I am proud to honor that shared role by recognizing women labor leaders in our community."

CONGRESISTA ADRIANO ESPAILLAT ENCABEZARÁ EVENTO EN HONOR A LAS MUJERES DE NUEVA YORK EN EL MOVIMIENTO LABORAL EN RECONOCIMIENTO DEL MES DE LA HISTORIA DE LA MUJER
WASHINGTON, DC – El congresista Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), acompañado por distinguidas homenajeadas, celebrará el Mes de la Historia de la Mujer el miércoles, 20 de marzo, a las 6:00 p.m., en la Galería de Arte del edificio de Oficinas Estatales Adam Clayton Powell Jr., ubicada en 163 West de la calle 125, 2do piso, Nueva York, NY. Durante el evento, el congresista Espaillat reconocerá las contribuciones de varias mujeres de Nueva York de varias organizaciones sindicales, comerciales y laborales y sus contribuciones al movimiento laboral y su impacto en temas fundamentales como el cierre de la brecha salarial, y la garantía de diversidad e igualdad en el lugar de trabajo.
"Hemos hecho progresos, pero aún queda mucho trabajo por hacer para reconocer plenamente el papel histórico y actual de la mujer en la fuerza laboral y las contribuciones que han hecho al movimiento laboral", dijo el congresista Adriano Espaillat (NY-13). "Todavía hay mucho trabajo por hacer para garantizar que se respete el valor del trabajo de las mujeres, se sostenga la dignidad de la igualdad salarial, se garantice el respeto de las mujeres en los roles de liderazgo y se mantengan altos estándares de derechos laborales para todos los trabajadores. Las mujeres desempeñaron un papel fundamental en la promoción de los derechos laborales al mismo tiempo que luchan por su igualdad de derechos ante la ley, por lo que me enorgullece honrar ese papel compartido reconociendo a las mujeres líderes laborales en nuestra comunidad".
