NEW YORK, NY – Today, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) announced his bill, H.R. 6852, the Holcombe Rucker Park Commemorative Site Act, has been signed into law by President Joseph Biden.
"I am deeply appreciative to President Biden for signing this historic bill into law, enshrining Harlem as the mecca of Black culture, the legacy of Holcombe Rucker to America’s basketball history, and empowering New York City youth and families for generations to come,” said Representative Espaillat. "It is an honor to introduce federal legislation recognizing the tremendous impact of the Harlem community by designating the Holcombe Rucker Park as a national commemorative site.
"Thank you to my colleagues Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand for their collaborative efforts to secure Senate passage of the bill and to each of the community advocates, including the Rucker, McCullough, and Marius families, and all who worked tirelessly to help get this bill across the finish line.
'Harlem is a national treasure that has long stood at the center of Black culture and the African diaspora, and this is an opportunity to further highlight the incredible contributions and impact of Harlem to New York City and the fabric of our nation."
