Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) issued the following statement today on Holocaust Remembrance Day:

“Today, on Yom Ha’Shoah, we honor the memory of the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust and bear witness to their legacy,” said Rep. Espaillat.  “As we reflect on this brutal moment in history, we take this time to contemplate the meaning of our vow, ‘never again,’ and the actions that are required of each of us.  Anti-Semitism and racism continue as destructive forces in our world, and it is incumbent upon all of us to act against these dangerous ideas.  As the Holocaust moves further into history, it is our job to ensure that it remains present in our minds as well as in our convictions.  Honoring those who died in the Holocaust gives us an opportunity to remember their lives and recommit our work in ways that embrace their legacy.  It will take each of us, working together, to eradicate all forms of bigotry and hatred, offer haven to victims of persecution, and repair the world from social injustices today and for all time.”
