Press Event Comes on Heels of Dept. of Education’s Refusal to Support Upward Bound Programs at Columbia Following Grant Application Formatting Changes

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (TOMORROW) Wednesday, 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. EDT Congressman Adriano Espaillat will hold a press conference at Columbia University, Double Discovery Center, located in Lerner Hall, 2920 Broadway, New York, NY 10027 to discuss the recent decision by the Department of Education and Secretary Betsy DeVos to reject Columbia's grant application for Upward Bound program funding based on minor line-spacing and font-size errors.

Rep. Espaillat has been a staunch critic of Sec. DeVos' decision to reject applications and has joined Rep. José E. Serrano and congressional colleagues in letters pushing for these applications to be reconsidered.
