Congressman Adriano Espaillat Commends Guillermo Linares on Appointment to Lead New York State Higher Education Services Corp

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) commended former assemblyman and city councilman Guillermo Linares on his recent appointment by Governor Andrew Cuomo to lead the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation.

"Guillermo Linares has a distinguished record in public service and has long served as a champion of education and ensuring quality and affordable education for New York students and their families," said Rep. Espaillat. "I commend Governor Cuomo for appointing Guillermo to this new leadership role to head the New York State Higher Education Services Corp., which annually reviews and distributes $1 billion in tuition assistance and financial aid to 370,000 college students through services that include New York's Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), the state's scholarship and loan forgiveness programs, grant funding for higher education, college savings programs and financial aid programs for New York students and families.

"Guillermo will be a vital asset to New York's education system, and I look forward to continuing our work together to ensure access to quality higher education remains affordable and accessible for all New York students who desire to achieve."
