Advisory: Reps. Espaillat, Demings, Congressional Leaders, Law Enforcement to Address Violent Crime Surge

WASHINGTON, DC – Today at 12:00 p.m. (EST), Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) will join his colleague Rep. Val Demings (FL-10), a former 27-year law enforcement officer and Chief of Police for the Orlando Police Department, along with their congressional colleagues and law enforcement representatives, to address the national increase in violent crime and the need for leadership at all levels to keep communities safe.
During his remarks, Rep. Espaillat will honor the lives of NYPD Officers Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora, who were killed in the line of duty and discuss his efforts to increase public safety measures, invest in community violence prevention and intervention programs, and federal law enforcement efforts against illegal gun traffickers and his “ghost guns” legislation, which is part of a comprehensive gun violence prevention package he introduced in collaboration with Rep. Demings earlier this Congress.
