WASHINGTON, DC -- Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) released the following statement in support of President Joe Biden's first address to Congress.

WatchRep. Espaillat's pre-joint address remarks.

"On his 99th day in office, President Biden reminded Americans of our strength and resiliency to overcome challenges of any magnitude and further reiterated his vision to address the crises facing our country and help deliver much needed relief to the families, small businesses, and communities that need it the most," said Rep. Espaillat.

"I was honored to attend President Biden's first address to Congress and hear firsthand his plan for American families, witness this historic moment in American politics with Vice President Harris and Speaker Pelosi on the dais, and to join my congressional colleagues to commemorate the significant progress we have made over the last 100 days and the strides taken to get our communities and our nation back on track.

"The American Families Plan is a historic investment in education and childcare and will make a difference in the lives of the children and families in New York's 13th congressional district. When we invest in our children, we are investing in our future - we all benefit - and our nation thrives. This is a once-in-a-generation investment in the foundations of middle-class prosperity: education, health care, and child care, and I wholeheartedly support the administration in this effort.

"We have witnessed tremendous progress during President Biden's leadership and it has been refreshing to work with the Biden-Harris administration to address some of the most pressing challenges facing our nation - police reform, fixing our immigration system, implementing gun safety, getting Americans back to work, and getting the pandemic under control. President Biden has a blueprint, and I vow to continue my efforts working in collaboration with the Biden-Harris administration to ensure we uphold American values, protect our freedom, and ensure opportunities for all."
