Representative Adriano Espaillat Statement Recognizing Juan Pablo Duarte Day

NEW YORK, NY – Today, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) released the following statement in recognition of Juan Pablo Duarte Day, commemorating the birth of one of the founding fathers of the Dominican Republic:

“Today we commemorate the birth of Juan Pablo Duarte — the foremost of the founding fathers of the Dominican Republic and a revolutionary who never lost the vision of freedom,” said Rep. Espaillat. “I am proud to join friends and families across New York’s 13th congressional district to celebrate our Dominican heritage, our culture, and our pride.”

Juan Pablo Duarte is hailed as the foremost of the founding fathers of the Dominican Republic, and today’s event was held at the statue donated by the Dominican Republic on the 165th anniversary of Duarte’s birth, on January 26, 1978. It is one of six monuments to Latino American leaders that overlook the Avenue of the Americas.
