Representative Adriano Espaillat Statement on Immigration and Budget Reconciliation
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) released the following statement on the inclusion of immigration reform in budget reconciliation:
"It's simple: for us to fully recover as a nation, and for us to change the lives of millions who for so long have fought for their shot at the American dream, any budget reconciliation deal that's struck must include immigration reform. And I cannot fully support a deal without it," said Rep. Espaillat. "For far too long, more than 11 million immigrants, including hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers, have waited in limbo — and after 35 years of inaction, this is our moment to deliver. I will not let this moment pass us by without a fight.”
