Event Celebrates Dominican Heritage Month at the United States Capitol
WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), in collaboration with the Dominicans on the Hill host committee, celebrated the 8th Annual Dominicans on the Hill conference at the United States Capitol, an event recognizing the growing influence of Dominican Americans across the nation and diaspora.
“It has been my honor to hold Dominicans on the Hill each year during Dominican Heritage Month to recognize the growing civic engagement and contributions of Dominican Americans to the nation and throughout the diaspora," said U.S. Representative Adriano Espaillat (D-NY). "Each year since its inception, this event has welcomed hundreds of leaders, professionals, students, and elected officials of Dominican descent and groups from around the nation to celebrate the growing influence, remarkable impact, and political engagement of the Dominican community. Held annually during Dominican Heritage Month, Dominicans on the Hill is a signature event created by Rep. Espaillat to recognize and celebrate the political, economic, and cultural contributions of Dominican Americans in the United States. The event gathers hundreds of elected officials, professionals, students, and community leaders to engage in high-level discussions on key issues affecting the Dominican diaspora. This year’s conference theme is “Advancing Public Policy & Opportunities in Health," focusing on the future of health for the Dominican diaspora.

Representative Espaillat is the first Dominican American to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives and his congressional district includes Harlem, East Harlem, West Harlem, Hamilton Heights, Washington Heights, Inwood, Marble Hill and the north-west Bronx. First elected to Congress in 2016, Representative Espaillat is serving his fifth term in Congress. Representative Espaillat currently serves as a member of the influential U.S. House Committee on Appropriations responsible for funding the federal government’s vital activities and serves as Ranking Member of the Legislative Branch Subcommittee of the committee during the 119th Congress.
