REPRESENTATIVE ADRIANO ESPAILLAT COMMEMORATES NATIONAL FOSTER CARE MONTH
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Today, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) joined members of Congress from across the country to declare May as National Foster Care Month. In the United States, over 400,000 young people are looking for permanency with caring parents.
"Every child deserves to grow up healthy, safe, and in stable households," said Rep. Espaillat (NY-13). "During National Foster Care Month, we recognize foster parents, families, volunteers and child welfare professionals who work to make a difference in the lives of children and youth in foster care around the nation. This month, we recommit ourselves to ensuring that every child has access to the promise of the American dream while honoring the countless professionals and individuals who make selfless sacrifices to make this promise a reality."
During May, members of the bipartisan Congressional Foster Care Caucus will be hosting events culminating in the 7th Annual Foster Youth Shadow Day on May 23rd, where foster youth from across the United States will be paired up with their member of Congress to tell their stories and advocate for improvements to the nation's foster care system.

First elected to Congress in 2016, Rep. Adriano Espaillat is serving his first term in Congress where he serves as a member of the influential U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the House Select Committee on Small Business. He is a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) and serves in a leadership role as CHC Freshman Representative to the Democratic Caucus. NEW YORK, N.Y. – Hoy, el congresista Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) se unió a los miembros del Congreso de todo el país para declarar a mayo como el Mes Nacional de la Crianza Temporal. En los Estados Unidos, más de 400,000 jóvenes buscan permanecer bajo el cuidado de padres afectuosos.
