In a tweet Tuesday morning, President Trump threatened to end aid to Honduras if its government does not stop immigration to the U.S.
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Today, Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) released the following statement in response to President Trump's tweet, this morning, threatening to end USAID support for Honduras.
"President Trump is the epitome of ‘man's inhumanity to man' as he threatens, yet again, another policy that would devastate individuals fleeing poverty and violence in Honduras, their home country, in search of a better life here in the United States," said Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13).
"First, the President separated children from their families, in some cases only months old, orphaned, and now this. The Trump Administration has continuously put forth policies aimed against immigrant communities and against vulnerable women, men, and children seeking asylum in the United States. Our nation is the land of hope, freedom and opportunity.
"I vow to continue to fight the hate-based rhetoric and anti-immigrant policies from this administration and will champion our efforts to protect the rights of people seeking protection from persecution and asylum here in the United States," he concluded.

En un tweet el martes por la mañana, el presidente Trump amenazó con terminar la ayuda a Honduras si el gobierno de este país no detiene la inmigración a los EE.UU.
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Hoy, el congresista Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) emitió la siguiente declaración en respuesta al tweet del presidente Trump, lanzado esta mañana, que amenaza con terminar el apoyo de USAID a Honduras.
"El presidente Trump es el epítome de la ‘inhumanidad del hombre hacia el hombre', ya que amenaza, una vez más, con implementar otra política que devastaría a las personas que huyen de la pobreza y la violencia en Honduras, su país de origen, en busca de una vida mejor aquí en los Estados Unidos", dijo el congresista Adriano Espaillat (NY-13).
"Primero, el presidente separó a niños de sus familias, en algunos casos estos solo tenían meses de nacidos, huérfanos, y ahora esto. La Administración Trump ha implementado continuamente políticas dirigidas contra las comunidades inmigrantes y contra mujeres, hombres y niños vulnerables que buscan asilo en los Estados Unidos. Nuestra nación es la tierra de la esperanza, la libertad y la oportunidad.
