WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) released the following statement on the Aim Higher Act, introduced today by Democrat members of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce as a comprehensive effort to push for the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act.

“The Aim Higher Act offers every student the opportunity to achieve success today and in their future by providing a debt-free path to obtaining a college degree,” said Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13). “Every student should have the opportunity to earn a debt-free quality education that leads to a rewarding career, as well as have access to tools that will ensure that they graduate on time without the burden of financial debt as they enter the workforce. I am proud to stand with my Democratic colleagues to invest in our students by making higher education more affordable and accessible for all. The Aim Higher Act is an investment in our students, our community and the future of our nation.”

Today, all 17 Committee on Education and the Workforce Democrats are unveiling the Aim Higher Act ─ a sweeping reauthorization of the Higher Education Act which reflects Democrats’ vision for an accessible, affordable higher education system. This bill ensures every student has a path to a debt-free degree or credential that leads to a rewarding career. The Aim Higher Act invests in students. It makes higher education more affordable today and addresses the rising cost of college to reduce the burden on students in the future.
