Espaillat, García, Correa, Ocasio-Cortez, Meng, Titus, Immigration Leaders Hold Press Conference Demanding Senate Action to Secure Lasting Protections for Undocumented Communities
WASHINGTON, DC —Representatives Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04), Lou Correa (CA-46), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), Grace Meng (NY-06), and Dina Titus (NV-01) joined by leading immigration advocates from around the nation,will host a press conference on Tuesday, December 7th at 1:30 p.m. (EST) at the United States Capitol to urge the Senate to secure a pathway to citizenship in the final negotiations and eventual passage of the Build Back Better Act. Earlier this month, the Members led 91 of their colleagues in a letter urging Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senate President Pro Tempore Patrick Leahy, and Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin (D-IL) to reinstate a pathway to citizenship in the Build Back Better Act. During the press conference, the Members will be joined by representatives from leading immigration advocacy organizations from across the nation, including representatives from Make the Road New York, Make the Road Nevada, Make the Road Pennsylvania, FIRM, CHIRLA, ICIRR, CPD, FIRM, Minkwon Center, Woori Center, and Hamkae Center.
