ADVISORY: REPS. ESPAILLAT, BONAMICI, SERRANO, BEYER INTRODUCE THE EXPANDING SAFE ZONES FOR IMMIGRANTS ACT

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. ET at the House Triangle outside the U.S. Capitol, Reps. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01), José E. Serrano (NY-15), and Don Beyer (VA-08) will introduce new legislation to expand safe zones to prohibit immigration enforcement efforts at various public locations.

The Expanding Safe Zones for Immigrants Act will prohibit immigration enforcement, including arrests, interviews, searches, and surveillance at "sensitive locations" that include areas such as medical or health care facilities, public and private schools, places of worship, courthouses, DMV offices, and locations that provide emergency services.
