Washington, DC – U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $2,400,000 in federal funding for four organizations in New York City that provide legal services to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. The funding was allocated through the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ) Legal Assistance for Victims Grant (LAV) Program.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressmen Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), Jim Langevin (D-RI) and Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ) today introduced the Supporting Providers of English Language Learning (SPELL) Act. The legislation aims to address the English learner (EL) teacher shortage by making highly-qualified EL teachers eligible for up to $17,500 in student loan forgiveness.
