"Madam Speaker, I rise today with a heavy heart to honor the life and work of the most prominent Merengue artist in the world who sadly passed away yesterday, the great Johnny Ventura.

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) announced nearly 50 venues in his district will receive a total of over $8 million in Shuttered Venue Operators Grants (SVOG). Rep. Espaillat voted to establish the program, which provides support to hard-hit businesses in the music and entertainment sector that were forced to shut their doors due to pandemic restrictions.

Founded in February 2017, the Congressional New Americans Caucus is comprised of first-generation immigrants and provides a forum to educate all Members of Congress about issues related to New Americans and public service.

Rep. Espaillat is the first Dominican American to serve in Congress. Rep. Torres is the sole Central American currently serving in Congress.

Brownlee to immediately address the unprecedented passport backlog plaguing Americans around the country because of the COVID-19 pandemic, rendering countless Americans unable to obtain passports with wait times ballooning to upwards of 20 weeks.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, Representatives Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) and Ritchie Torres (NY-15) issued the following statements hailing the inclusion of language in the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (T-HUD) Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations bill that eases restrictions on public housing agency (PHA) reserve funds and allows them to be used for additional Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. This language permits New York City Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) to issue approximately an additional 1,500 Section 8 vouchers.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) announced that he has successfully secured the inclusion of $11.5 million in community project funding for New York's 13th Congressional District in the House's annual funding bills, taking full advantage of the House Appropriations Committee's earlier announcement that they would accept requests for funding community projects, a revised version of the process formerly known as "earmarking" that allows individual members of Congress to direct funding to critical initiatives in their districts.
