Happening Today at 6PM: Representative Adriano Espaillat, Community Leaders Hold Vigil and Call to Action in Memory of the Victims in El Paso, TX and Dayton, OH

NEW YORK, NY – Today at 6:00 p.m. EDT, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) joined by community leaders, will hold a community vigil at Bennett Park (Fort Washington Avenue at West 184th Street) to remember and honor the victims of the horrific mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio that took place this past weekend.
During the event, Rep. Espaillat will be joined by New York State Attorney General Letitia James, New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer, New York City Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams, Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer, State Senator Robert Jackson, Assemblywoman Carmen de la Rosa, Assemblyman Al Taylor, Councilman Mark D. Levine, Councilman Ydanis Rodríguez and others to demand action to address the gun violence epidemic in communities around the nation.
"I am appalled by the cowardly acts of violence that occurred this weekend, and I am heartbroken over the lives that were senselessly taken by these tragedies. My heart breaks for the families of the victims and for all who lost loved ones," saidRep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13). "While the nation mourns, it remains critical that we come together as a community to take decisive action towards comprehensive gun control, once and for all. The safety of our communities, our families, and our nation is at stake."
