WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Representatives Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) and Chuy García (IL-04) announced the inclusion of important language relating to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services' (USCIS) plan to close its international field offices in the report to accompany the bill funding the Department of Homeland Security. Earlier this year, USCIS announced it would close nearly two-dozen offices in 21 countries around the globe that assist with refugee and asylum cases, help Americans who are adopting children from abroad, process applications to reunite families, and work to combat immigration fraud.

NEW YORK, NY – Today, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) announced that he successfully secured $21 million in funding over the next two fiscal years to equip Customs and Border Protection (CBP) border agents with body-worn cameras. Rep. Espaillat previously secured funding for a two-year pilot study conducted by the CBP at the direction of Congress, which showed that border patrol agents and the public would benefit from implementation of body-worn cameras.

WASHINGTON, D.C.Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), the only formerly undocumented immigrant in Congress, presided over the vote to pass H.R. 6, the American Dream and Promise Act, in the U.S. House of Representatives. The monumental bill, which Rep. Espaillat supported, will put more than 2.1 Million Dreamers on a pathway to citizenship and establish a pathway to permanent residence for individuals covered by programs known as Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED).

The broadly popular program enjoys bipartisan support and helps cities and states around the country get major transit infrastructure improvement projects off the ground. The CIG New Starts program will be a critical source of funding for the Second Avenue Subway Phase II Extension project.
