WASHINGTON, DC – Today, with the U.S. Postal Service under assault from the Trump Administration, Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) voted to pass H.R. 8015, the Delivering for America Act. The Delivering for America Act requires the Postal Service to return to the Postal Service operations and levels of service that were in place on January 1, 2020 throughout the duration of the coronavirus public health emergency and requires all election mail to be treated as First-Class mail.

Hate crimes do not just affect victims. Because the victim is targeted solely because of his or her race, religion, gender, or ethnicity, when an attack occurs, entire communities are put on notice. The most recent FBI report on hate crimes shows an 11.7% rise last year in the number of violent hate crimes. The number of victims in anti-Latino or Hispanic hate crimes rose over 21% in 2018. Jews were the target of a stunning 57.8 percent of all religious bias crimes in 2018, despite making up less than 2 percent of the U.S. population.
WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) announced a series of key policy and funding wins. Key among them was an amendment passed in the House of Representatives that would prohibit the Office of Refugee Resettlement and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from contracting with any for-profit contractor for the purposes of housing unaccompanied migrant children. Over the past few years, the Trump Administration has separated numerous families and is required to house children in adequate child-care facilities.
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the House Foreign Affairs Committee passed Representative Adriano Espaillat's (NY-13) bill, the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative Authorization Act. This legislation would allocate nearly $75,000,000 per year from 2021 through 2025 to improve security cooperation with Caribbean nations and combat illicit drug trafficking, support justice sector reform and strengthen the rule of law, and address instability caused by natural disasters. |
