Representative Adriano Espaillat Commemorates the Birth of Juan Pablo Duarte with Speech on the U.S. House Floor
NEW YORK, NY -- Today, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) issued the following statement in recognition of Juan Pablo Duarte Day, commemorating the birth of one of the founding fathers of the Dominican Republic:

"Today, we pause to honor Juan Pablo Duarte, the founding father of the Dominican Republic,” said Rep. Espaillat. "Juan Pablo Duarte was instrumental in the War of Dominican Independence, and he fought for a liberal democracy after the founding of the nation. Each year, I have had to pleasure of introducing a resolution that which supports the ideals of Juan Pablo Duarte, and I look forward to continuing this tradition. This is one of several bills that I will introduce to mark the beginning of Dominican Heritage Month to honor the Dominican American community in my district and across the country."
Juan Pablo Duarte is hailed as the foremost of the founding fathers of the Dominican Republic.
